Supercars Career Best Finish for Simona De Silvestro in Auckland

ACS driver, Simona De Silvestro has finished the ITM Auckland SuperSprint in a Supercars career best 7th position. After a chaotic safety car period in Sunday's race caused significant confusion throughout the pack, Simona was able to hold 7th position for the remainder of the race, resulting in her first top 10 finish in Supercars.

“It’s a really good result for me today, with our cars when we crack the top ten it’s good so I’m really happy. Definitely things went a little our way with the safety car but once we were there we were right and that’s really what counts,” says Simona, “Huge thanks to Gio for getting the car just where I wanted it and just continuously working on fine tuning it for me to drive quick. Today is proof that we’re going in the right direction, I’m really happy with the team, we’re all working really hard and it’s cool for everyone to get a positive result, hard work pays off.”

Luck was not on ACS driver Andre Heimgartner’s side, with the safety car confusion dropping him down to nineteenth. However, the New Zealand driver was able to take away some positives from the weekend after a strong finish in Saturday’s race. He qualified in sixteenth place but was able to work his way through the field and capitalise on a well-timed pit stop to finish in 8th position.

The team will now return to Australia to prepare for the Bathurst 1000 held from October 10th-13th.
