2017 Clipsal 500 Wrap Up

Australian Clutch Services sponsored Nissan Motorsport have completed their first round of the season at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

Driver Michael Caruso and Simona De Silvestro finished the first race on the Saturday in 11th and 20th position respectively, a move up from their qualifying positions. Simona De Silvestro enjoyed her first time out as a full time Supercars driver, “It was good, I think practice was ok, but in qualifying I think it was pretty tough getting a lap together. I wish it would have been in the (one minute) twenties lap time wise, but it was a good session to get under our belt, and I think we can improve from there for the next one. I like the track, actually I think the track is cool, but it’s more a matter of me learning the car so much, and every lap I’m picking up a little bit more. It’s very interesting, but I’m enjoying myself, and we will keep working at it.”

The #23 Nissan Altima of Michael Caruso was tipped for a top 10 finish in the second race before a puncture just six laps from the end resulted in Caruso dropping to 22nd place. He was followed home by new driver Simona De Silvestro who experienced a difficult final race after being spun whilst trying to enter pit lane and then later receiving a drive through penalty for kerb hopping.

The ACS sponsored Nissan Motorsport team will be back on track at the Tasmania Supersprint from the 7th to the 9th of April.
