Nissan Motorsport Leads V8 Supercars Championship

Australian Clutch Services driver Michael Caruso currently leads the 2016 V8 Supercars Championship after a rain drenched Clipsal 500 in Adelaide.

The #23 Nissan driver managed to hold on to take second place throughout the chaotic race which started under safety car due to extreme wet weather. This second place in the main event gave Caruso first place overall for the weekend. Strategy was a major factor in the race with teams initially confused as to whether the initial laps under safety car counted as part of the race. Teams had to ensure a minimum of 140L’s of fuel were “dropped” into the cars during the race despite the race being shortened to 48 laps from the 78 originally scheduled. The race was hampered by safety car periods and even a red flag suspension due to the heavy rain and significant flooding on the circuit. The rain caught many drivers out with several of the sports prominent drivers crashing out in the appalling conditions.

Caruso was pleased with the result which makes him the first Nissan driver to lead the Australian Touring Car Championship (Now V8 Supercars Championship) since Mark Skaife in 1992.

"A lot of effort has gone in over the off season to start the championship in the best way possible, and there’s no better way to finishing the weekend in the lead of the championship.” Says Michael Caruso, “A lot of credit to everyone involved, not just at the track, but also back at the factory for their hard work. Now the real hard work begins and we have to maintain these results and keep pushing hard so we can stay at the front of the field.”

The #23 and #96 Nissan Altima’s also debuted a new look with the ClutchPro brand now being the prominent signage on both car’s headlights, replacing the ACS logo that had been used on the cars throughout 2015. ClutchPro is the OE quality replacement brand of Australian Clutch Services.
